Sarah Parker Appointed President of Washington State College of Ohio

Sarah Parker has been named the eighth president of Washington State College of Ohio after five months of service as interim president. She will assume her official presidency in January.

Washington State College of Ohio is a community college in Marietta, Ohio. The school enrolls about 1,600 students, 65 percent of whom are women.

Dr. Parker’s background in higher education spans two decades. Prior to her interim presidential appointment, she served as Washington College of Ohio’s vice president of academic affairs for six years. During this time, she worked to expand the college’s academic offerings, including the addition of a bachelors degree program in nursing. Previously, she served as academic dean at Hocking College in Ohio.

“I am deeply honored to serve as the next president of Washington State College of Ohio,” said Dr. Parker. “WSCO is in a strong position and has been a longstanding leader in providing transformative educational pathways for students in our community. I am excited to build on the exceptional work we’ve done. Together with our dedicated faculty, staff, and community partners, we will drive innovation, build new partnerships, and expand educational opportunities to meet the needs of southeastern Ohio and the Mid-Ohio Valley.”

Dr. Parker holds a master’s degree in English from Virginia Tech and a doctorate in educational administration and leadership from Ohio University.
