Ten Women Appointed to Administrative Roles at Colleges and Universities

Aundrea Self has been appointed director of outreach and engagement for the College of Business at Mississippi State University. She comes to her new role after nearly three decades with WCBI-TV, a Columbus, Mississippi-based television channel. Throughout her long tenure with the station, she has served as a reporter, anchor, producer, and host. Currently, she hosts “MidMorning with Aundrea,” and anchors two afternoon news broadcasts.

Self received her bachelor’s degree in English and mass communication from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and her master’s degree in journalism from the University of Alabama.

Cassie Stewart has been promoted to director of admissions for the School of Dentistry at Marquette University in Milwaukee. She has been a staff member with the school’s admissions office for over a decade, most recently serving as associate director of admissions.

Stewart is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where she majored in business administration and management.

Carly Griffith Hotvedt has been promoted to executive director of the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative at the University of Arkansas School of Law. She first joined the institute in 2019 as director of Tribal Enterprise. For the past three years, she has served as the institute’s associate executive director. Previously she was the director of agriculture and natural resources for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

Griffith Hotvedt received bachelor’s degrees in agribusiness and political science from Oklahoma State University. She holds a juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma School of Law and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa.

Dina Timmons has been named coordinator of the Black Resource Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. For the past three years, she has served as the coordinator for graduate programs in the university’s College of Business and Analytics. Previously, she was the coordinator for the university’s master of public administration degree program.

Timmons earned her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and master’s degree in public health from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Sarah Pearson has been promoted from interim vice president to permanent vice president for advancement at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. Her background includes more than four decades of fundraising experience. She previously served as vice president for college advancement at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

Pearson received her bachelor’s degree from Bates College and her master of fine arts degree from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Elizabeth Ott has been appointed associate university librarian for special collections and director of the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She has worked for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for nearly a decade, most recently serving as the Frank Borden Hanes Curator of Rare Books.

Dr. Ott is a graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, where she double-majored in English and history. She holds a master’s degree in Victorian media and culture from the University of London-Egham and a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Virginia.

Alyssa Wilcox has been named vice president for development and alumni relations at Pennsylvania State University. For over a decade, she has held several advancement positions with Purdue University in Indiana. She currently serves as senior vice president and chief campaign planning officer. Earlier in her tenure, she served as the university’s chief of staff.

Wilcox holds a bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana and an MBA with a concentration in marketing from the University of Connecticut.

Michele Kitson has been named vice president for advancement for Alverno College, a Roman Catholic women’s college in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She comes to her new role from St. Marcus Lutheran School in Milwaukee, where she served as director of mission advancement. Previously, she was director of corporate relations for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Kitson is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she double-majored in theatre and French. She holds an MBA from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Shelly Kotynek has been promoted to executive director of university and exploratory advising at Utah State University. She has been a staff member with the university for the past 16 years. Previously, she served as director of the Quinney College of Natural Resources Academic Advising and Service Center.

Kotynek received her bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Southern Illinois University and her master’s degree in psychology with an emphasis in school counseling from Utah State University.

Sandra Sheahan has been promoted from interim associate vice president to permanent associate vice president of facilitates operations at Colorado State University. She has held various facilities management roles with the university for more than three decades.

Sheahan received her bachelor’s degree in applied human sciences from Colorado State University.
