Emily Patterson is the inaugural Marieb Endowed Professor of Nursing and Engineering Innovation, a joint professorship between the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing and the department of mechanical and industrial engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Previously, Dr. Patterson was a professor in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Services at Ohio State University. A leading expert in human factors engineering, informatics, and patient safety, she has authored more than 250 publications, garnering over 10,000 citations. Her work has led to improvements in a wide-range of technologies, including electronic health records and medical devices.
Dr. Patterson is a graduate of the University of Illinois, where she majored in industrial engineering. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from Ohio State University.
Julie Jessop has been named the Earnest W. and Mary Ann Deavenport, Jr. Chair and director of the Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering at Mississippi State University. Dr. Jessop has taught as a professor of chemical engineering at the university since 2018. Her research focuses on spectroscopic characterization of polymer reactions, hybrid photopolymer resins, cationic ring-opening photopolymerizations, and electron-beam polymerization.
Dr. Jessop received both her bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Michigan State University.
Lora Iannotti is the inaugural Lauren and Lee Fixel Distinguished Professor at the Washington University Bursky School of Public Health in St. Louis, Missouri. A faculty member since 2010, Dr. Iannotti currently serves as co-director of the Food and Agriculture Research Mission and director of planetary health at the university’s Center for the Environment. As founding director of the university’s E3 Nutrition Lab, she aims to identify nutrition solutions that embrace principles in equity, environment, and evolution. She has conducted local and international projects focused on discovering sustainable dietary approaches that improve child growth and brain development.
Dr. Iannotti received her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Missouri. She earned her master’s degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia and her Ph.D. in international nutrition from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
