Three New Assistant Professors at Wayland Baptist University

Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, has hired three women as assistant professors.

Laura Bandenburg was appointed assistant professor of English at the university. Since 2010 she has served as an adjunct professor at the university teaching an online course. She has also taught at Texas Tech University.

Bandenburg is a graduate of Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. She holds a master’s degree in English from Texas Tech and is currently completing work on a Ph.D. in technical communication and rhetoric at Texas Tech.

Karen Beth Strovas was also hired as an assistant professor of English. Since 2007 she has been an adjunct professor at Azusa Pacific University in California.

Dr. Strovas is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University. She holds a master’s degree in English from Texas Tech and a Ph.D. in English literature from Claremont Graduate University in California.

Daniela Derderian was named an assistant professor of biological sciences. A native of Brazil, she has been teaching courses at the Federal University of Sao Carlos.

Dr. Derderian holds a Ph.D. in psychological sciences and a doctor of pharmacy degree from Brazilian universities. She is continuing postdoctoral research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
