Donna Hedgepath Will Be the First Woman President of Wayland Baptist University

Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, has selected Donna Hedgepath as its fourteenth president. When Dr. Hedgepath steps into her role on July 1st, she will become the first woman in the university’s history to do so.

Wayland Baptist University enrolls about 2,300 undergraduate students and close to 700 graduate students. Women make up 52 percent of the undergraduate student body.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to accept the position of president of Wayland Baptist University, and I am filled with gratitude for the trust and confidence that the university’s trustees have placed in me,” Dr. Hedgepath said. “Now, as I look forward to the role of president, I am eager to bring my experience to the forefront and lead the faculty and staff in building upon the excellent foundation established here at Wayland.”

Dr. Hedgepath currently serves as provost and vice president of academic affairs at Campbellsville University in Kentucky, a position she has held since 2015. She was Campbellsville University’s dean of the School of Education for two years prior to taking on the role of provost.

Dr. Hedgethpath holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree both in music education from Campbellsville University. She received her Ph.D. in education from the University of Kentucky.
