Kristine Dillon Named Sixteenth President of Whittier College in California

Whittier College in California has appointed Kristine Dillon to serve as the institution’s sixteenth president. She has served as the college’s interim president for the past year.

Whittier College enrolls about 1,100 undergraduate and 60 graduate students. Some 56 percent of the college’s undergraduate students are women, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education.

For nearly 40 years, Dr. Dillon has served in various academic, administrative, and consulting positions in the field of higher education. Prior to her appointment as interim president, she was a senior advisor for higher education practice with Huron Consulting. She previously served as president of the Consortium on Financing Higher Education for 16 years. Earlier in her career, she served as dean of academic services and student affairs at Tufts University in Massachusetts. Her higher education experience began at the University of Southern California, where she held numerous roles with student affairs for over a decade.

Dr. Dillon is an alumna of Whittier College where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in education and a Ph.D. in the economics of higher education from Claremont Graduate University in California.
