Deborah Reibe Honored for Contributions to Sports Medicine and Exercise Science

Deborah Riebe, professor of kinesiology and associate dean of the University of Rhode Island College of Health Sciences, has received the Citation Award from the American College of Sports Medicine. The award recognizes Dr. Reibe’s significant contributions to the field of sports medicine and exercise science.

In 1995, Dr. Riebe began her career with University of Rhode Island as an assistant professor of kinesiology. In addition to her current role as associate dean, she has held several leadership positions during her nearly three-decades long tenure, including chair of the department of kinesiology and interim dean of the College of Health Sciences. She is also a fellow of both the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Academy of Kinesiology. Throughout her academic career, her research has focused on the development of physical activity interventions for a variety of populations.

Dr. Reibe is a graduate of Springfield College in Massachusetts where she majored in physical education. She holds a master’s degree in exercise science from the University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D. in exercise physiology from the University of Connecticut.
