Janet Woodruff-Borden Named Provost at the University of Alabama Birmingham

Janet Woodruff-Borden has been named senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Alabama Birmingham.

Dr. Woodruff-Borden most recently served as interim provost and executive vice president at the University of Oregon, a position she held since August 2022. She first joined the University of Oregon in 2018 as dean of the graduate school, and later served as executive vice provost for academic affairs. Earlier in her career, Dr. Woodruff-Borden served the University of Louisville in Kentucky for 28 years as a professor in psychological and brain sciences.

Dr. Woodruff-Borden graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
