Four Women at the University of Chicago Named to Endowed Professorships

Emily Rogalski has been named the Rosalind Franklin Ph.D. professor in the department of neurology. She joined the University of Chicago in 2023 to oversee the university’s Healthy Aging & Alzehimer’s Research Care Center which studies aging, dementia, and cognitive function. Before taking on her current role, she served as the Ann Adelmann Perkins and John S. Perkins Professor of Alzheimer’s Disease Prevention at Northwestern University in Illinois.

Dr. Rogalski holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wittenberg University in Ohio and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Northwestern University.

Bo Li has been selected as the Neubauer Associate Professor of Data Science in the department of computer science. Her research focuses on trustworthy machine learning, with an emphasis on robustness, privacy, generalization, and their interconnections.

Dr. Li received her Ph.D. in computer science from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Veronica Guerrieri has been named the Ronald E. Tarrson Distinguished Service Professor of Economics. She currently serves as the Williard Graham Faculty Scholar in the university’s Chicago Booth School of Business. Outside of her work at the University of Chicago, Guerrieri is a fellow of the Economic Society, a research fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research, and the co-director of the Macro Initiative of the Becker Friedman Institute. She previously served as a consultant for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, as well as the Italian Prime Minister.

Dr. Guerrieri earned her bachelor’s degree and masters degree in economics from Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi in Milan, Italy. She received her Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Yoonsun Choi has been named the Mose J. and Sylvia Firestone Professor in the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, where she currently serves as the director of the doctoral program. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare. Previously, she served as the vice president for the Society for Social Work and Research, and as the chair of the Asian Caucus of the Society for Research on Child Development.

Dr. Choi received a bachelor’s degree in English and education from Ewha University in Seoul, Korea, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas Austin, and a Ph.D. in social welfare from the University of Washington Seattle.
