Colleges and Universities Announce the Appointments of a Dozen Women to Administative Positions

Jen Brock was appointed associate vice president for communications and marketing at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. For the past three years, she has been the chief communications officer for Marietta City Schools in Georgia. She is the former director of communications and marketing for the College of Pharmacy at Mercer University in Georgia.

Brock is a graduate of what is now Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in communication from Georgia State University.

Renada Greer has been promoted to executive director of the Student Multicultural Resource Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Since 2019, she has been assistant dean of students. Also, she has been the director of TRiO Programs since 2008.

Dr. Greer holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance, a master’s degree in workforce and adult education, and a doctorate in higher education administration, all from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Carmela Roybal has been hired as the new executive director of the University of New Mexico’s Native American Budget and Policy Institute. She has been serving as visiting professor of human rights, health, and medical sociology at the American University of Sovereign Nations in Sacaton, Arizona, and a research fellow at the University College Dublin in Ireland.

Dr. Roybal holds master’s degrees in sociology and bioethics from the American University of Sovereign Nations. She earned a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of New Mexico.

Marsetta Lee was appointed chief of staff and chief compliance officer at Talladega College in Alabama. She was associate dean of administration and external relations for North Carolina Central University School of Law. Earlier, she served in the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office for 27 years.

Lee is a graduate of Talladega College and holds a juris doctorate from Temple University in Philadelphia.

Lindsey Hoyt is the new director of admissions at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Prior to joining Reed, Hoyt was associate director of undergraduate admission at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Earlier, she worked as an associate director in undergraduate admissions at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Hoyt grew up primarily in Austin, Texas, before attending Tulane University.

Kara Brown has been named the assistant vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She was dean of student life and associate dean of students for activities at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Earlier, Brown was student activities coordinator at Boise State University in Idaho.

Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in workforce development education from the University of Arkansas. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in urban higher education from Jackson State University in Mississippi.

Laurie Young was appointed director of university partnerships at the University of Louisville. Most recently, she served as vice president of business development for Sotera’s family of agritech brands.

Young is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University. She earned an MBA from the College of Business at the University of Louisville.

Michelle Dodenhoff was named vice president for development at the University of South Carolina. She served as associate vice president for university development from 2004 to 2009 and vice president for development and alumni affairs from 2009 to 2013. Most recently, Dodenhoff served as chief development officer and senior vice president of philanthropy at Ochsner Health in New Orleans.

Dodenhoff holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in communication studies with a specialization in organizational leadership from the University of Alabama.

Consuella Askew is the new vice president for University Libraries and University Librarian at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She is the first person of color in the institution’s 256-year history to hold the position. Earlier, she was associate University Librarian for the Newark campus of Rutgers University.

Dr. Askew holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College in Atlanta. She earned a master’s degree in library and information studies from the University of North Carolina and a doctoral degree in higher education from Florida International University.

Marla Vickers will be the next vice president for university advancement at Florida State University, effective October 1. She will also serve as president of the Florida State University Foundation. She has been serving as associate vice president of advancement at Emory University in Atlanta.

Vickers earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. She holds a master’s degree in public history and historic administration from Florida State University and an MBA from George Washington University. She is currently pursuing an educational doctorate at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Erica Buchholz was named vice president for business affairs at Valley City State University in North Dakota. She has been serving in the position on an interim basis. Buchholz joined the staff at the university in 2010.

Buchholz is a graduate of Valley City State University, where she majored in business administration with a concentration in management.

Jessicca Fiore was appointed registrar at Herkimer County Community College in New York. She had served as the advisement center specialist at the college and has also held positions in admissions and academic support services.

Fiore has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Montclair State University in New Jersey.
