A Trio of Women Who Have Been Selected to Serve as Endowed Professors

Saba Siddiki has been named the Chapple Family Professor of Citizenship and Democracy at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University in New York. Dr. Siddiki joined the Maxwell School in 2017 and is an associate professor of public administration and international affairs. She is the author of Understanding and Analyzing Public Policy Design (Cambridge University Press, 2020).

Dr. Siddiki holds a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Denver.

Cristina Archer was appointed to the Unidel Howard Cosgrove Career Development Chair in Environment at the University of Delaware. Dr. Archer joined the faculty in the department of geography and spatial sciences at the university in 2011 where her research focuses on the study of wind and wind power. She is the director of the Center for Research in Wind at the university.

Professor Archer holds a master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Politecnico di Milano in Italy. She earned a second master’s degree in meteorology from San Jose State University in California and a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from Stanford University.

Barbara Valent, university distinguished professor in the College of Agriculture at Kansas State University, was named to the Biosecurity Research Institute Endowed Professorship at the university. Professor Valent’s work has focused on wheat blast, a dangerous new disease in which the fungus is capable of taking out entire wheat fields.

Professor Valent holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder.
