A Pair of Women Who Will Be Serving as Deans

M. Daniele Fallin was appointed the James W. Curran Dean of Public Health at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Fallin will become dean on July 1, 2022. Dr. Fallin is the Sylvia and Harold Halpert Professor, the Bloomberg Centennial Professor, and chair of the department of mental health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore. She holds joint appointments in the Bloomberg School’s departments of epidemiology and biostatistics and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine’s departments of medicine and psychiatry. Dr. Fallin is also director of the Wendy Klag Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. She joined Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as an assistant professor of epidemiology in 2000.

Dr. Fallin earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in genetic epidemiology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Kathryn Drager, associate dean for research and graduate education in the College of Health and Human Development at Pennsylvania State University, has been named interim dean of the Graduate School and vice provost for graduate education at the university. Dr. Drager holds the rank of professor of communication sciences and disorders. She joined the Penn State faculty in 1998. Dr. Drager has served as associate dean for research and graduate education in the College of Health and Human Development since 2013.

Dr. Drager received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees in speech-language pathology from the University of Minnesota.
