Maria Gallo Appointed Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls

Maria Gallo has been named the 20th Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin–River Falls. Dr. Gallo will assume her new duties on July 15.

In accepting the appointment, Dr. Gallo stated that “I am inspired by the university’s commitment to academic excellence, student success, and affordability. I look forward to partnering with the 12 chancellors in the UW System along with UW-River Falls faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to bring innovation and opportunity to the state and the St. Croix Valley.”

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls, in the northwestern part of the state, enrolls nearly 5,600 undergraduate students and just under 400 graduate students, according to the most recent statistics available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 64 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Since July 2016, Dr. Gallo has been serving as president of Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Before being named president of Delaware Valley University, Dr. Gallo was dean of the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Earlier in her career, she was chair of the department of agronomy at the University of Florida.

A graduate of Cornell University, Dr. Gallo earned a master’s degree in crop science and a Ph.D. in genetics from North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
