Three Women Appointed to Endowed Positions at Major Universities

Naïma Moustaïd-Moussa, a professor in the department of nutritional sciences and founding director of the Obesity Research Institute at Texas Tech University, recently was named a Horn Distinguished Professor. She joined the faculty in 2012 after teaching for nearly two decades at the University of Tennessee.

A native of Morocco, Dr. Moustaïd-Moussa is a graduate of University Mohammed V in Rabat, Morroco. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Paris.

Emily Greenwood was named the John M. Musser Professor of Classics at Yale University. She is a scholar of ancient Greek prose literature and the reuse of ancient Greek and Roman classics in modernity. Professor Greenwood has served as chair of the classics department and holds a secondary appointment in the department of African American studies. Dr. Greenwood joined the faculty at Yale in 2009 after teaching at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. She is the author of several books including Afro-Greeks: Dialogues Between Anglophone Caribbean Literature and Classics in the Twentieth Century (Oxford University Press, 2010). Professor Greenwood holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the University of Cambridge in England.

Lauren Haynes was named the Patsy R. and Raymond D. Nasher Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the Nasher Museum of Art on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Haynes has been serving as curator of contemporary art at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas, since 2016. Previously, she spent a decade at the Studio Museum in Harlem.

Hayes is a graduate of Obelin College in Ohio, where she majored in art history.
