Sally McRorie, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Florida State University, was appointed president of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. She will serve a three-year term as president.
Founded in 1944, NASAD is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 363 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for art and design and art/design-related disciplines, and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other art/design-related endeavors.
“We join you in congratulating Provost McRorie,” wrote Karen P. Moynahan, director of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design in a letter to Florida State University President John Thrasher. “We thank you and your institution for supporting her volunteer efforts to develop the quality of visual arts teaching and learning in the United States.”
Dr. McRorie became provost at Florida State in 2015 after serving as interim provost. Previously, Dr. McRorie was vice president for faculty development and advancement at the university.
Dr. McRorie earned a master’s degree from East Tennessee State University. She holds a doctorate in art education from the University of Kansas.
