Princeton University in New Jersey recently announced that it has appointed 16 new scholars to its faculty. Five of the new hires are women.
Laura Edwards was appointed professor of history. She specializes in legal history. She was a full professor at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she has taught since 2001. Earlier, Professor Edwards was on the faculty of the University of California, Los Angeles from 1997-2001, and the University of South Florida from 1993-97. Dr. Edwards is the author of four books on the legal history of the American South, including The People and Their Peace: Legal Culture and the Transformation of Inequality in the Post-Revolutionary South (University of North Carolina Press, 2009).
Professor Edwards is a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Chan is a graduate of the University of British Columbia in Canada and holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Dieng is a graduate of TeÌleÌcom Paris. She earned a master’s degree in applied statistics at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a Ph.D. in statistics from Columbia University in New York City. Before seeking her Ph.D., Dr. Dieng was a junior professional associate at the World Bank.

Dr. Ghasempour is a graduate of the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Tang is a graduate of Peking University in China. She earned a Ph.D. in mathematics at Harvard University.
