Five Women Scholars Who Have Been Appointed to Endowed Professorships

Mykel Taylor was appointed the Alfa Endowed Eminent Scholar in the College of Agriculture at Auburn University in Alabama. Since 2011, she has been serving as an associate professor in the department of agricultural economics at Kansas State University. Earlier she was an assistant professor and extension specialist in the School of Economic Sciences at Washington State University.

Dr. Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business management and a master’s degree in applied economics from Montana State University. She earned a Ph.D. in economics at North Carolina State University.

Alice Squires has been named the Wendell J. Satre Distinguished Professor in the Engineering Technology Management program at Washington State University. She has taught in the program since 2014.

Dr. Squires holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland. She earned an MBA at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a Ph.D. in systems engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Renée Crichlow was appointed the inaugural Mac Baird Endowed Chair in Family Medicine Advocacy and Policy at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She joined the faculty at the university in 2009 and has served as president of the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Crichlow earned her medical degree at the University of California, Davis.

Susan Stryker was named to the Barbara Lee Distinguished Chair in Women’s Leadership at Mills College in Oakland, California. She is a professor emerita at the University of Arizona. Professor Stryker is the author of Transgender History: The Roots of Today’s Revolution (Seal Press 2017).

Professor Stryker is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. She holds a Ph.D. in American history from the University of California, Berkeley and conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University.

Kathryn Lofton has been named the Lex Hixon Professor of Religious Studies, American Studies, History, and Divinity at Yale University. She is dean of humanities for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Yale and joined the university’s faculty in 2009. Professor Lofton is the author of Consuming Religion (University of Chicago Press, 2017).

Professor Lofton earned a bachelor’s degree in history and religion and the humanities from the University of Chicago. She holds a Ph.D. in religious studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
