Four Women Awarded Tenure at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York

Hamilton College, a highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Clinton, New York, has announced the promotion to associate professor and the awarding of tenure to four faculty members. All four are women.

Anne Feltovich, an associate professor of classics, specializes in Greek and Roman comedy. She teaches ancient Greek and Latin language courses, as well as courses on Greek and Roman culture. Dr. Feltovich has participated in archaeological excavations in Athens, Corinth, and Pylos, Greece. Dr. Feltovich holds a bachelor’s degree in classics from Grinnell College in Iowa. She earned a Ph.D. in classical philology from the University of Cincinnati.

Siobhan Robinson was promoted to associate professor of psychology. Her animal-based research employs both classical and innovative techniques to investigate the neuroanatomy and neurochemistry underlying goal-directed, but maladaptive learning, memory, and motivation. Earlier in her career, Dr. Robinson taught at Dartmouth College and Oberlin College. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester in New York, where she majored in psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Washington.

Pavitra Sundar was appointed associate professor of literature and creative writing. Her teaching and research are focused on the fields of cinema studies, sound studies, postcolonial literary and cultural studies, and gender-sexuality studies. She previously held a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in film and media studies at Dartmouth College. Dr. Sundar earned a Ph.D. in English and women’s studies at the University of Michigan.

Andrea Townsend was promoted to associate professor of biology. Her research focuses on understanding how land-use changes affect the behavior, health, and populations of wild birds. Her most recent work focuses on the social behavior and disease ecology of crows. Dr. Townsend was a faculty member at the University of California, Davis, prior to joining the faculty at Hamilton. She is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Maine and holds a Ph.D. in ecology from Cornell University.
