Princeton University Announces the Appointment of Four Women to Its Faculty

The board of trustees of Princeton University in New Jersey has approved the appointment of four women to its faculty. All four will begin teaching at Princeton this fall.

Lara Buchak joins Princeton this fall as a professor of philosophy. She has been an associate professor since 2014 at the University of California, Berkeley. She joined the faculty there in 2009. Dr. Buchak specializes in decision, game and social choice theory. She is the author of Risk and Rationality (Oxford University Press, 2014) and is associate editor of the British Journal for the Philosophy of Science. Professor Buchak earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.

Patricia Blessing-Yaycioglu will join the faculty this summer as an assistant professor in art and archaeology. A specialist in Islamic art and archaeology, she received her Ph.D. from Princeton in 2012 and has been a lecturer at Stanford University, a fellow at the Society of Architectural Historians, and a visiting assistant professor at Pomona College in Claremont, California. Her undergraduate diploma is from Otto-Friedrich Universität in Germany. Dr. Blessing-Yaycioglu is the author of Rebuilding Anatolia after the Mongol Conquest: Islamic Architecture in the Lands of RÅ«m, 1240–1330 (Routledge, 2014)

Zhao Li was appointed an assistant professor of politics and public affairs. She specializes in American politics. Dr. Li joins the faculty this summer after serving as a postdoctoral research fellow at Princeton. Dr. Li received her Ph.D. in business administration from Stanford University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics, political science, and Russian studies with a minor in mathematics from the University of Rochester in New York.

Guadalupe Tuñón will join the faculty at Princeton University as an assistant professor in politics and international affairs. She studies comparative politics and the political economy of development. Dr. Tuñón currently serves as an Academy Scholar at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. She earned a Ph.D. in 2019 from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Tuñón has a master’s degree from Yale University and a bachelor’s degree from Universidad de San Andrés in Argentina.
