Faculty News: Appointments, Promotions, or Tenure for Women Scholars

Michelle Theus was named assistant professor of neuroscience at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. She was doing postdoctoral research at the University of Miami.

Dr. Theus ia a graduate of Ohio University and holds a Ph.D. in neuropathology and laboratory medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Carol Hiscoe, associate professor of English at William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina, was granted tenure. She has taught at the university since 1992.

Dr. Hiscoe holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from North Carolina State University. She earned a Ph.D. in literature at Duke University.

Rosalee Clawson, professor of political science at Purdue University, was named chair of the political science department at the university. She is the co-author of Legacy and Legitimacy: Black Americans and the Supreme Court (Temple University Press, 2008).

Professor Clawson holds a Ph.D. in political science from Ohio State University.

Sheila Teahan, associate professor of English at Michigan State University in East Lansing, was named the university’s faculty grievance official.

Dr. Teahan joined the Michigan State faculty in 1989. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto and holds master’s and doctoral degrees from Yale University.

Susan Curtis was appointed the Maxwell C. Weiner Distinguished Visiting Professor of History at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. She will spend the spring 2013 semester on the campus in Rolla. Dr. Curtis is a professor of history and American studies at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Professor Curtis is a graduate of Graceland University in Springfield, Missouri. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri.
