Two Women Legal Scholars Named Interim Deans at State University Law Schools

Melanie B. Jacobs was named interim dean of the College of Law at Michigan State University. She was senior associate dean for academic affairs and professor of law. Professor Jacobs joined the faculty at the law school in 2002.
Dean Jacobs received a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in New York City and a juris doctorate from Boston University. She earned a master’s degree in law at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Lee Ann Wheelis Lockridge, David Weston Robinson Professor of Law and McGlinchey Stafford Professor of Law, has been named interim dean of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. Professor Lockridge joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 2005. She was promoted to associate professor in 2008 and elevated to full professor in 2011. Her principal area of practice and expertise is in intellectual property, trademark and licensing.
Professor Lockridge graduated summa cum laude from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1995. She also graduated magna cum laude from Duke University School of Law in 1998.
