Three Women Appointed to Dean Positions at Colleges and Universities

Angela Kashuba is the new dean of the Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is the first woman to serve in the position. Dr. Kashuba joined the faculty at the university in 1997. She went on to be named the John and Deborah McNeill, Jr. Distinguished Professor in 2013 and was appointed chair of the school’s Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics in 2015. She also serves as director of the UNC Center for AIDS Research Clinical Pharmacology and Analytical Chemistry Core.

Dr. Kashuba is a graduate of the University of Toronto. She earned her pharmacy doctorate at the University at Buffalo of the State University of New York System.

Dawn Brown McNair was appointed dean of mathematics and sciences at Livingstone College in Salisbury, Maryland. She was an associate professor of mathematics at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dr. McNair is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. McNair was the first African American to earn a Ph.D. in applied mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Doze Y. Butler has been named dean/director for the School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. From 2017-2019, she was the program leader for the Apparel Merchandising and Textiles Program at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At Southern, she also served as associate dean of the College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences and interim dean of the School of Graduate Studies. Earlier in her career, she served as a professor of human sciences for Texas A&M University-Kingsville

Dr. Butler holds a bachelor’s degree in home economics-clothing and textiles from Southern University, a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, an MBA from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and a doctoral degree in clothing and fashion merchandising from Texas Woman’s University.
