Janelle Walter, professor of family and consumer sciences and the nutrition sciences program coordinator at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, was awarded with the Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the association and it recognizes achievement, contribution, and leadership in the field.
Dr. Walter holds a bachelor’s degree and master of education degree both from the University of Houston, and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University.
Mara Wade, professor of Germanic languages and literatures at the University of Illinois, has received the Reimar Luest Prize for International Research Cultural Exchange from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Fritz Thyssen Foundation in Germany. The award is given to scholars whose research has shaped academic and cultural relations between Germany and their own countries. Dr. Wade’s research focuses on emblems, European aristocratic and festival culture, gender research, and the urban culture of Nuremberg.
Dr. Wade holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
Susanne Slavick, the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, is the recipient of the 2019 Distinguished Teaching of Art Award from the College Art Association. The prestigious award is given annually to honor an exemplary educator for which teaching and making art are inseparable.
Professor Slavick holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a master of fine arts degree from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Jennifer Hunt, who has been serving as interim dean of the University of Florida College of Medicine, has been appointed dean of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She will be the first woman to lead the Ivy League medical school in its 229-year history
Dr. Gregory was appointed interim president of Jackson State University in May 2025. Prior to that appointment, she was the university's provost and vice president of academic affairs.
Dr. Jones currently serves as vice president of education and chief academic officer at the College of Lake County. She is slated to become the community college's interim president on May 1.
Dr. Ballabina has over three decades of experience with Texas A&M University and the university system. She currently serves as the system's executive vice chancellor.
