Ten Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Posts in Higher Education

Gina Sholtis has been named interim vice president for institutional advancement at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She was the vice president for university advancement at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Sholtis holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Missouri State University.

Elizabeth González has been named chief program and strategy officer at the College Futures Foundation. She has served as a portfolio director and senior program officer at The James Irvine Foundation for the past five years.

González holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Maud Beelman has been named the founding executive director of the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism at Arizona State University. She is an award-winning U.S. investigations editor for The Associated Press.

Beelman holds a master’s degree from the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications.

Noelle Chaddock has been named vice president for equity and inclusion at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She currently serves as the associate provost and deputy Title IX coordinator at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Chaddock holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Binghamton University in New York, including a doctorate in philosophy, interpretation, and culture.

Ann Firth has been promoted to vice president and chief of staff to the president at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. She has been an administrator in the Office of the President since 2011.

Firth holds a bachelor’s degree and a juris doctorate both from the University of Notre Dame.

Cynthia Downing has been named executive director of career services and experimental learning at North Carolina A&T University. She had been serving as interim executive director for the past year.

Downing holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a master’s degree in adult education from North Carolina A&T University.

Ladonna Eanochs has been named interim director of institutional research at Alcorn State University in Mississippi. She was a research associate in the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.

Dr. Eanochs holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Stillman College in Alabama, an MBA from Alcorn State University, and a Ph.D. in postsecondary and adult education from Capella University.

Deborah Davis has been named chief of strategic initiatives for the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. She has been serving as CEO of VCU Hospitals and Clinics since 2016.

Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA both from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Yenny Anderson has been promoted to vice provost for institutional research and strategic analytics at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She was the assistant vice provost.

Dr. Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minor in psychology from Queens College of the City University of New York, a master’s degree in business computer information systems from Baruch College of the City University of New York, and a doctorate in educational leadership in management from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Sarah Swager has been named vice provost for student success at the University of Montana. She has been serving as interim vice president for student affairs at Carlow University in Pittsburgh since February 2018.

Dr. Swager holds a bachelor’s degree in studio art from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, a master’s degree in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Michigan.

Caroline Attardo Genco Named the First Woman President of the University at Buffalo

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
