The State University of New York Names Six Women to Distinguished Professorships

Beverly J. Evans has been named a Distinguished Teaching Professor of French and Western Humanities at SUNY Geneseo. She has been a member of the university’s faculty since 1985.
Dr. Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in French from Cornell University, a master’s degree in French literature from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in French literature from the University of Pennsylvania.
Jessica Gurevitch has been named a Distinguished Professor in the department of ecology and evolution at Stony Brook University. She has been a faculty member at Stony Brook since 1985 and served as chair of her department from 2006 to 2012.
Dr. Gurevitch holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences/ecology, evolution and systematics from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in ecology an evolutionary biology from the University of Arizona.
Mary F. Kritzer has been named a Distinguished Service Professor in the department of neurobiology and behavior at Stony Brook University. She has been a faculty member at Stony Brook since 1993 and also serves as an affiliate faculty in the department of psychology.
Dr. Kritzer holds a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the University of Rochester in New York and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in neuroanatomy both from Yale University.
Ute Martha Moll has been named a Distinguished Professor in the department of pathology at Stony Brook University. She has been a faculty member in the pathology department since 1992.
Dr. Moll holds a master’s degree in biology and a medical doctorate both from the University of Ulm in Germany.
Suparna Rajaram has been named a Distinguished Professor in the department of psychology at Stony Brook University. She has been a Stony Brook faculty member since 1993 and served as associate dean for faculty affairs at the College of Arts & Sciences from 2012 to 2015.
Dr. Rajaram holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, economics, and English literature and a master’s degree in psychology both from Bangalore University in India. She also holds a master’s degree in cognitive psychology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from Rice University in Houston.
Nicole S. Sampson has been named a Distinguished Professor in the department of chemistry at Stony Brook University. She serves as co-director of the Chemical Biology Graduate Training Program and served as chair of her department from 2012 to 2017.
Dr. Sampson holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
