Deans, Deans, and More Deans

Geeta Menon, the Abraham Krasnoff Professor of Global Business and professor of marketing, has been named dean of the undergraduate college of the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. Her appointment takes effect on July 15. Dr. Menon has been a member of faculty at the Stern School since 1990.

Professor Menon holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Madras University. She earned a Ph.D. in business administration at the University of Illinois.

Joan C. Hendricks was appointed to a second term as dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Her new term will run until June 30, 2018.

Dr. Hendricks has served on the Penn faculty for more than 25 years. She is a graduate of Yale University and holds a Ph.D. and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jane Stangl was named dean of the first-year class at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She has been serving as a lecturer in exercise and sports studies at Smith and has been a member of the faculty since 1997.

Dr. Stangl holds a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.

Bernadette M. Melnyk was named dean of the College of Nursing and associate vice president for health promotion at Ohio State University. She is scheduled to begin her new duties on September 15. Currently, Dr. Melynk is dean and Distinguished Foundation Professor in Nursing at Arizona State University. She previously taught at the University of Rochester from 1992 to 2004.

Dr. Melnyk is a graduate of West Virginia University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in clinical research from the University of Rochester.

Delores Johnson Price was appointed interim dean of the School of Education at Alabama A&M University. Since 2003 she has been an associate professor in the department of curriculum, teaching, and educational leadership and has chaired the department since 2008.

Dr. Price holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Evansville in Indiana. She earned her doctorate at Loyola University in Chicago.

Cara Halgren was named dean of students and associate vice president at the University of North Dakota. She has served as interim dean for the past year. In 2006 she was named associate dean of student life.

Dr. Halgren is a graduate of the University of North Dakota. She holds a master’s degree from Troy University and an educational doctorate from the University of St. Thomas.

Mary E. Pritchard was appointed interim dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences at Northern Illinois University. She has served as associate dean for the past eight years. Previously, Dr. Pritchard was chair of the School of Family, Consumer, and Nutrition Sciences at NIU.

Dr. Pritchard earned her Ph.D. at Purdue University.

Margaret Bruzelius was named associate dean of the college at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She has been serving as dean of the senior class.

Dr. Bruzelius is a graduate of Harvard University. She holds a Ph.D. from Yale University.

Dr. Zimmerman has been a senior administrator at Clarke University since August 2023. She began her tenure as vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty and was appointed acting president in October 2025.
