Carol Archbold, a professor of criminal justice at North Dakota State University in Fargo, has been selected as the winner of the 2018 Outstanding Mentor Award from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. The award honors a faculty mentor who has made significant contributions to the professional development of graduate students and junior faculty members.
The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences was founded in 1963 to promote scholarly and professional advancement in the field of criminal justice. Headquartered in Greenbelt, Maryland, the organization has approximately 2,800 members, representing every state in the United States, many foreign countries, and virtually every institution of higher learning with a criminal justice/criminology program.
Dr. Archbold joined the faculty at North Dakota State University in 2003. She stated that “this award means a great deal to me because the nomination was student based. Working with graduate students is the most rewarding part of my position at NDSU. We have amazing students who are eager to learn, which makes my job easy and very rewarding.”
Dr. Archbold holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Dakota. She earned a Ph.D. in criminal justice at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
