Mount Mary University President to Step Down in 2017

eileenEileen Mihm Schwalbach, president of Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, announced that she will retire at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year. Dr. Schwalbach was appointed the eleventh president of Mount Mary University in 2009.

The university was founded in 1913 and is sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. Its undergraduate programs are open only to women and currently enroll about 860 students. More than 500 students are enrolled in the university’s co-educational graduate programs.

Dr. Schwalbach began her career at Mount Mary University in 1993 as a part-time instructor in the education department. She joined the faculty full-time in 1997. Dr. Schwalbach was named provost in 2007 and served for one-year as acting president before being named to the post on a full-time basis. Earlier in her career, she taught in the Milwaukee public school system for 25 years.

President Schwalbach is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in urban education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
