Seven Women Scholars in New Teaching Roles

martinJena Martin, a professor of law at West Virginia University, has been given the added responsibility of serving as the inaugural associate dean for innovation and global development. Professor Martin joined the faculty at the law school in 2009.

Professor Martin is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal and the Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. She also holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Texas.

Buzelli-ClarkeElizabeth Buzzelli-Clarke, an associate professor of music in the theatre department at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, was designated as a Distinguished Professor at the university. Dr. Buzzelli-Clarke was hired as an administrator at the university in 1980 and served as registrar from 1986 to 2001. She then joined the faculty in 2001.

Dr. Buzzelli-Clarke is a graduate of Ithaca College in New York. She holds two master’s degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an educational doctorate.

SOEClusterHire-2Susana Munoz is a new assistant professor in higher education leadership in the School of Education at Colorado State University. For the past several years, she taught at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Dr. Munoz holds a master’s degree in education from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University.

faculty-barbara_zecchiBarbara Zecchi, an associate professor of Spanish at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, has been given the added responsibilities of director of the university’s Translation Center. She served as interim director of the center during the 2014-15 academic year.

A native of London, who grew up in Venice, Dr. Zecchi is fluent in Spanish, Italian, and English. She holds a master’s degree in Spanish literature and culture from the University of California, San Diego and a second master’s degree in Italian and a Ph.D. in Romance languages and literatures from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Arcaya_MarianaMariana Arcaya is a new assistant professor in the department of urban studies and planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She was conducting postdoctoral research at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies.

Dr. Arcaya holds a master’s degree in city planning from MIT and a doctorate from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Session_DonnaDonna Session, an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, was appointed director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.

Dr. Session is a graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk.

Nan-GaylordNan Gaylord, an associate professor of nursing at the University of Tennessee, has been given the additional responsibility as director of the new Center for Nursing Practice at the university.

Dr. Gaylord holds master’s degrees in nursing and medical ethics and a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Tennessee
