Lara Harb was appointed assistant professor of Near Eastern studies at Princeton University. Since 2013, she has been an assistant professor at Dartmouth College. She is an expert in Arabic literature.
Dr. Harb is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She earned a Ph.D. at New York University.
Kathryn M. Dudley was named chair of the American studies program at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. She is a professor of anthropology and a professor of American studies at the university.
Professor Dudley’s latest book is Guitar Makers: The Endurance of Artisanal Values in North America (University of Chicago Press, 2014). An earlier work is The End of the Line: Lost Jobs, New Lives in Postindustrial America (University of Chicago Press, 1994).

Clancy Smith was named a Regents Professor at the University of Arizona. She specializes in the history of modern and early modern Africa and the Middle East. Professor Smith is the author of Mediterraneans: North Africa and Europe in an Age of Migration, c. 1800-1900 (University of California Press, 2010).
Professor Smith joined the faculty at the University of Arizona in 1995. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and a Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Mary Hausbeck was named University Distinguished Professor in the department of plant, soil, and microbial sciences at Michigan State University. Her research is focused on reducing farmers’ reliance on fungicides.
Dr. Hausbeck holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University.
