Yale’s Louise Gluck Awarded the Gold Medal for Poetry

Louise Gluck, an adjunct professor of English and the Rosenkrantz Writer in Residence at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, has been awarded the Gold Medal for Poetry from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. The award is one of the academy’s highest honors.

Professor Gluck is the author of 10 books of poetry. She is a previous winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award. In 2014 Professor Gluck received the National Book Award in poetry for her collection Faithful and Virtuous Night (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2014).

Professor Gluck is the former chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. She attended both Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia University.
