Only One Woman Among the Five Finalists for Dean of the University of North Carolina School of Law

The University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill has announced a field of five finalists to become the school’s next dean. All five candidates will be visiting the Chapel Hill campus during April for interviews and public forums. Only one of the five finalists is a woman.
Michelle J. Anderson is dean of the City University of New York School of Law in Long Island City. She has served in this post since 2006. Previously, Dean Anderson served on the faculty at the Villanova University School of Law in Pennsylvania for eight years. She is a leading scholar on rape law.
Professor Anderson is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz. She graduated from Yale Law School in 1994, where she was notes editor of the Yale Law Journal. Following law school, Dean Anderson clerked for Judge William A. Norris of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also holds a LL.M degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
