Two Women Appointed to Dean Positions

murthy_jayathiJayathi Y. Murthy was appointed dean of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her appointment is effective January 1, 2016. Currently she is a professor and the Ernst Cockrell Jr. Department Chair of the department of mechanical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Murthy joined the faculty at the University of Texas in 2012. Previously, she taught at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Professor Murthy is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology. She holds a master’s degree from Washington State University and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

BethCastigliaBeth M. Castiglia was appointed dean of the Larry L. Luing School of Business at Berkeley College. She had served as a professor and dean of the School of Business at Felican College in Lodi, New Jersey. Previously, she taught at Ramapo College and Fairleigh Dickinson University, both in New Jersey.

Dr. Castiglia is a graduate of St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree in economics from Pace University in New York, and a Ph.D. in applied management and decision sciences from Walden University.
