New Faculty Roles for Four Women Scholars

ginsburgGolda S. Ginsburg was named a professor in the department of psychiatry at the University of Connecticut Health System. She was a professor in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is a leading expert on anxiety in children and teenagers.

Dr. Ginsburg is a graduate of California State University, Northridge. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Vermont.

gianna_bern_Gianna Bern, an associate professor of finance at the Mendoza College of Business of the University of Notre Dame, was named director of the new master’s degree program in finance that will be offered at the university’s campus in Chicago, Illinois. She is a founder of Brookshire Advisory and Research Inc. and author of the book Investing in Energy: A Primer on the Economics of the Energy Industry (John Wiley & Sons, 2011).

Bern is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology and holds an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago.

GoldieSue J. Goldie, the Roger Lee Irving Professor of Health at Harvard University, was named director of the new Global Health Education and Learning Incubator at Harvard.

Professor Goldie is a graduate of Union College in Schenectady, New York, and the Albany Medical College. She also holds a master of public health degree from Harvard University.

michelleserefMichelle M.H. Seref was promoted to assistant professor of business information technology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. Since 2012, Dr. Seref has been an instructor of accounting and information systems development. She is the co-author of Developing Spreadsheet-Based Decision Support Systems (Dynamic Ideas, 2007).

Dr. Seref holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in operations management, all from the University of Florida.

On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
