North Dakota State University in Fargo has announced three finalists for the position of dean of libraries. All three candidates will visit campus by the first week in July for presentations and public forums. Two of the three finalists are women.
Bridget J. Burke is the associate university librarian for special collections and the digital library at Boston College. She previously served on the faculty at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and held library posts at Yale University, George Mason University, the Smithsonian Institution, and the New York Public Library.
Burke holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of library science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She earned a second master’s degree in American history at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
Barbara J. Mann is associate director for public services at the library of the University College of the University of Maryland. She has been on the staff at the university since 2006. Earlier in her career, she held library posts at the University of Southern Maine in Portland and Emory University in Atlanta.
Mann is a graduate of the University of Montevallo in Alabama. She earned a master of library and information science degree from the University of South Carolina.
