Lisa Rhine has been named the tenth president of Central Arizona College. She will begin her new appointment on September 1. According to the U.S. Department of Education, the community college enrolls more than 5,000 students, 61 percent of whom are women.
Dr. Rhine comes to her presidency with nearly four decades of leadership experience in higher education. Most recently, she was president and chief executive officer of Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona. Before that, she was provost and chief operating officer for Tidewater Community College’s campus in Chesapeake, Virginia. Dr. Rhine has also served in various academic affairs and student services roles with Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, the University of Dayton, Wittenberg University in Ohio, and Northern Kentucky University.
“I am honored and humbled to be selected as CAC’s tenth president,” said Dr. Rhine. “My initial task isn’t to have all the answers, it’s to ask good questions, listen carefully, and build on the extraordinary work already happening at Central Arizona College. In my experience, that’s how lasting success begins. I can’t wait to get to know our students, faculty, staff and community partners and build our collective future together.”
Dr. Rhine is a graduate of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, where she majored in rehabilitation counseling. She holds a master’s degree in special education from the University of Dayton and a Ph.D. in educational administration from Capella University.
