Catherine Edmonds was named director of the Forever Learning Initiative at North Carolina A&T State University, where she recently concluded service as interim provost for the 2025–2026 academic year. Dr. Edmonds previously served as interim chancellor of Elizabeth City State University and chief of staff at North Carolina Central University. She also has experience in the public sector and K-12 settings, including stints as deputy superintendent of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, superintendent of Bertie County Schools, and superintendent of Elizabeth City Pasquotank Public Schools.
Dr. Edmonds is an alumna of North Carolina A&T State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics education. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in educational leadership from North Carolina State University.
Brandy Barker was named the inaugural vice president for brand experience at Eastern Michigan University. Barker’s professional background includes experience in graphic design, printmaking, and brand strategy. She most recently served as assistant vice president for placemaking and chief creative officer at the University of West Georgia.
Barker holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design and printmaking from the University of West Georgia and a master’s degree in art and design with a concentration in museum studies from Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
Sarah Bartlett is the new assistant vice president of advancement for corporate and foundation relations at Georgia State University. Bartlett comes to her new role with more than 18 years of development experience across higher education, philanthropic organizations, and nonprofits. Most recently, she was director of corporate and foundation relations at Emory University in Atlanta.
Bartlett received her bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Florida and her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Southern California.
LeNá Powe McDonald was appointed vice president for community impact at the University of Alabama. Her appointment marks a return to the university, where she previously worked in the Office of the President as director of internal affairs and UA System liaison. More recently, Dr. McDonald served as associate commissioner for academic relations for the Southeastern Conference. She has also served in leadership roles with the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce and the Birmingham Business Alliance.
Dr. McDonald is a three-time graduate of the University of Alabama, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in community development and dance, her master’s degree in communication studies, and her doctorate in higher education administration.
Nicole Harris was named deputy director of athletics and senior woman administrator at Syracuse University in New York. Most recently, Harris worked in athletics at the University of Toledo in Ohio, serving as deputy director of athletics, chief operating officer, and senior woman administrator. Earlier in her career, she held senior leadership roles at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and Florida Atlantic University.
Harris earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sport administration from the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
