Cathy N. Davidson is taking a post as professor of English at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She will also be the director of the Futures Initiative at CUNY. Dr. Davidson has been serving as the John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies and the Ruth F. DeVarney Professor of English at Duke University. Professor Davidson is the author or editor of more than 20 books including Revolution and the Word: The Rise of the Novel in America (Oxford University Press, 1987) and Now You See It: How Technology and Brain Science Will Transform Schools and Business for the 21st Century (Viking, 2011).
Dr. Davidson is a graduate of Elmhurst College in Illinois. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Binghamton University.
Marlene Behrmann was named to the George A. and Helen Dunham Cowan Professorship in Cognitive Neuroscience at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Dr. Behrmann joined the Carnegie Mellon faculty in 1993 and is considered one of the nation’s leading authorities on the cognitive neuroscience of visual perception. She also serves as co-director of the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition, a joint effort between Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Behrmann holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. She earned a Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Toronto.
