Six Women Join the Faculty at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire

colby-sawyerColby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire, enrolls about 1,400 students and women are 72 percent of the student body. The college recently announced the hiring of 15 new faculty members for the 2013-14 academic year. Six of the new hires are women.

Suzanne Delle is a new assistant professor of theater. She was an assistant professor of theater and director of the Casino Theatre at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. Delle is a graduate of Connecticut College and holds a master’s degree from Goucher College in Baltimore and a master of fine arts degree in directing from the Catholic University of America.

Diane Edwards is an associate professor and director of the teacher education program. Previously, she was director of the Child Development Laboratory School at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. Dr. Edwards holds a master’s degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.

Amanda Fay was appointed assistant professor of nursing. She has been an adjunct professor of nursing at the college for the past two years. Fay is a graduate of River Valley Community College in Claremont, New Hampshire, and holds a master’s degree in nursing education from Walden University.

Rachel Fredericks is a new assistant professor in the humanities department. She will teach courses on biomedical ethics and the foundation of ethics. She was a visiting assistant professor at Fort Lewis College in Colorado. Dr. Fredericks is a graduate of Reed College in Portland, Oregon. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Washington.

Nicole Heller was hired as an assistant professor of psychology. She is a graduate of Wittenberg University in Ohio, where she majored in psychology and English. She will soon earn a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Maine.

Catherine Turcotte is an assistant professor of sociology. She previously served on the faculty at the University of Maine in Augusta. Dr. Turcotte is a graduate of New England College. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of New Hampshire.
