Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire Names Susan Stuebner as Its Next President

The next president of Colby-Sawyer College, Susan D. StuebnerThe board of trustees of Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire, has chosen Susan D. Stuebner as its next president. Dr. Stuebner will take office on July 1.

Formerly Colby Junior College for Women, the named was changed to Colby-Sawyer College in 1975. A decision to go co-educational was made in 1989 and men were admitted in 1990. Today, Colby-Sawyer College enrolls about 1,350 students. Women make up 69 percent of the student body.

Dr. Stuebner is currently the executive vice president and chief operating officer at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She joined the staff there in 2013. Previously, Dr. Stuebner was vice president for administration and planning at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Stuebner is a graduate of Dartmouth College, where she majored in psychology and was captain of the women’s basketball team. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in education from Harvard University.

Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
