
Dr. Tsing will spend the fall semester at Aarhus University, the largest university in Denmark, and then return to teach at Santa Cruz for the Spring 2014 semester. She will establish a transdisciplinary program on the Anthropocene, defined as the geologic epoch when humans have impacted the earth’s ecosystems.
Professor Tsing is a graduate of Yale University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Stanford University. Among her books are Friction: An Ethnography of Global Connection (Princeton University Press, 2005) and In the Realm of the Diamond Queen: Marginality in an Out-of-the-Way Place (Princeton University Press, 1994).
