Jennifer Miles is the New Leader of the University of Memphis Lambuth

Jennifer Miles has recently taken the helm of the University of Memphis Lambuth. Earlier this summer, she assumed the role of executive director of the campus.

Lambuth University was founded in December 1843 as the Memphis Conference Female Institute. In 1923, the school became co-educational and was renamed Lambuth College. As the institution expanded its programming, it was renamed again to Lambuth University in 1991. However, the university struggled to maintain its financial stability, ultimately ceasing its independent operations in June 2011. Two months later, the University of Memphis stepped in and acquired the campus. Today, the University of Memphis Lambuth enrolls nearly 1,000 undergraduate students. In fall 2026, the Lambuth campus is slated to launch a new doctor of physical therapy program.

With 30 years of higher education experience, Dr. Miles most recently served as vice president of student services at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi. She has previously served in leadership roles at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, Widener University in Pennsylvania, the University of Arkansas, and Mississippi University for Women, where she also taught as a professor of educational leadership.

“Higher education leaders must be visible, and able to share their institution’s story and clearly articulate the good work being done on campus,” said Dr. Miles. “I am personally invested in the continued success of our students. The university has a strong commitment to successful outcomes for every student, and I am excited to work with the UofM’s faculty and staff in the pursuit of sustained enrollment success.”

A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Dr. Miles earned her bachelor’s degree in communication from Florida State University. She holds a master’s degree and doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Alabama.
