In Memoriam: Mary E. Garrity, 1971-2025

Mary E. Garrity, senior director of development for biomedical and translational sciences at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, passed away on January 14. She was 53 years old.

Garrity was appointed to her latest role at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 2022. Earlier in her career, she spent two years as the university’s director of business development for the Coulter Translational Research Partnership. Outside of her service to Case Western Reserve University, she had nearly two decades of experience in medical business development, including key leadership roles with BioEnterprise, NeuralStem, Operadora Clinic of the Americas, and Cleveland Clinic. Garrity earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biology from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio, and her MBA from Case Western Reserve University, where she was pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical translational science.
