University of Georgia’s Hye Jin Yoon to Lead the American Academy of Advertising

Hye Jin Yoon, associate professor of adversiting and public relations at the University of Georgia, has been named president-elect of the American Academy of Advertising. She will serve as the organization’s president-elect from 2025-2026, president from 2026-2027, and past-president from 2027-2028.

In her scholarly work, Dr. Yoon focuses on humor advertising and humor psychology in marketing. She also studies health and environmental issues in advertising and their impact on consumers, digital marketing, and network and sentiment analysis. Her career in academia began with the Temerlin Advertising Institute at Southern Methodist University in Texas, where she taught for nine years. She has been a tenured associate professor with the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication for the past six years.

Dr. Yoon received her bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Korea University. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Georgia.
