A Change in Leadership at Salish Kootenai College in Montana

Dr. Sherwin

Stacey Sherwin has been selected to serve as interim president of Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, Montana. Her appointment follows the recent resignation of former interim president Michael Munson.

According to the Department of Education’s most recent information, Salish Kootenai College enrolls some 600 undergraduate students, two-thirds of whom are women. The data shows the college enrolled 12 graduate students.

A member of the Salish Kootenai College community for over three decades, Dr. Sherwin has served as chair of the college’s Institutional Review Board. She holds a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of Nebraska.

Dr. Munson

Prior to her appointment as interim president in June 2024, Dr. Munson served as Salish Kootenai College’s vice president of academic affairs. Earlier in her tenure, she served as dean of Native American studies and a faculty member with the division of education. She leaves Salish Kootenai College for Washington State University, where she will serve as associate vice provost of tribal research and graduate education.

Dr. Munson holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Montana. She received her doctorate from Montana State University.
