New Dean Appointments for Five Women in Academia

Phyllis Ingham has been named dean of health sciences at West Georgia Technical College. She has been with the college for over two decades, holding positions such as clinical director and program director of the medical laboratory technology and phlebotomy technology programs. She previously served as the medical laboratory supervisor for Tanner Health System.

Dr. Ingham received her bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science and medical technology from Auburn University in Alabama. She holds a master of education degree from Alabama State University and a doctorate from Argosy University.

Theresa Crichfield has been appointed dean of students at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. She comes to her new role from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, where she served as associate vice provost for student success and dean of students. She previously served as dean of students for Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.

Dr. Crichfield received her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with a minor in chemistry and her master’s degree in biological sciences from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. She earned a doctorate in educational administration and supervision from St. John’s University in New York.

Amity Noltemeyer has been promoted from interim dean to permanent dean of the College of Education, Health, and Society at Miami University in Ohio. She has been with the university for over a decade, teaching as a professor of psychology. Prior to her interim appointment, she served as associate dean of the Graduate School.

Dr. Noltemeyer holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, a master’s degree and an education specialist degree in school psychology from Miami University, and a Ph.D. in school psychology from Kent State University in Ohio.

Tara Feld has been selected to serve as interim dean of the College of Business and Technology at Western Illinois University. She first joined the university’s faculty in 1998 as an economics professor. For the past five years, she has served as associate dean and director of the MBA program.

Dr. Feld earned her bachelor’s degree in economics and international business from Jacksonville University in Florida and her Ph.D. in economics from the University of South Carolina.

Amy Catalano has been appointed interim dean of the School of Education at Hofstra University in New York. She is a professor of teaching, learning, and technology and the director of science education and elementary STEM education. She previously served as chair of her department.

Dr. Catalano earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Stony Brook University in New York, a second master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University, a third master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a doctorate in education from Hofstra University.

Katherine Yelick to Direct Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is a national program run by the University of California for the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science. Dr. Yelick, a computer scientist and longtime UC Berkeley faculty member, will become the laboratory's next director on July 1.
