Liz Russell Appointed President of Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor

Liz Russell is the new president of Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor. Russell has served in various leadership positions since joining the college in 1994, most recently as vice president of academic affairs. Earlier, she was dean of student affairs, dean of student success, associate dean of enrollment management, and director of admissions.

Eastern Maine Community College enrolls just over 2,000 students, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 56 percent of the student body.

“I am honored and humbled to have been selected president of Eastern Maine Community College,” Russell said. “I look forward to working collaboratively with faculty and staff to create a shared vision that supports students in reaching their educational and career goals and provides business and industry with the workforce they need to thrive in our region.”

President Russell holds a bachelor’s degree in business teacher education and a master’s degree in business from Husson University in Bangor, Maine. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in community college leadership through Walden University
