Joy Bodin Selected as the New Leader of Hennepin Technical College in Minnesota

Joy Bodin has been appointed interim president of Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, effective June 1. The former president – Merrill Irving Jr. – resigned after allegations of belittling employees who had disabilities and making sexually inappropriate comments to coworkers.

Hennepin Technical College enrolls just under 4,100 students according to the most recent statistics available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 39 percent of the student body.

Since 2017, Bodin has served as the vice president of academic and student affairs at Central Lakes College, with campuses in Brainerd and Staples, Minnesota. Previously, she served Hennepin Technical College from 1992 to 2017 in several capacities including director of marketing and admissions, dean of industry, interim dean of students, and most recently as academic dean.

Bodin holds a bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul. Minnesota. She earned a master’s degree from Capella University.
