Sarah Higgins Is the New Leader of the Birmingham, Alabama, Campus of Herzing University

Sarah Higgins was appointed president of the Birmingham, Alabama, campus of Herzing University. Founded in Milwaukee in 1965, Herzing University is a private, nonprofit institution with nine campuses across seven states, a continuing education division, and an online division.

The Birmingham campus enrolls about 550 undergraduate students and 20 graduate students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 79 percent of the undergraduate student body. Nursing, healthcare and paramedic/EMT programs are the most popular degree programs at the Birmingham campus.

Most recently, Higgins was vice president for marketing and enrollment at Western Colorado University in Gunnison. Earlier, she served as director of external relations and professional development at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.

Higgins earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication at Arizona State University. She holds an MBA from the University of Northern Alabama and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of the Pacific.
