Fontbonne University in St. Louis Appoints Nancy Blattner as Its Next President

Nancy H. Blattner will be the next president of Fontbonne University in St. Louis Missouri. She will take office in July.

Fontbonne University, a private educational institution affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, enrolls just under 900 undergraduate students and about 400 graduate students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 61 percent of the undergraduate student body.

“I am deeply honored to be appointed as Fontbonne’s next president,” said Dr. Blattner. “Since leaving in 2009, the university and campus community have maintained a special place in my heart and my prayers. The commitment of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet to the dear neighbor without distinction has informed my approach to the presidency at Caldwell University for the past 10 years. I look forward to reconnecting with the sisters and the entire Fontbonne community next summer.”

Since 2009, Dr. Blattner has served as president of Caldwell University in New Jersey, also a private Catholic university. Before taking on that role, she was vice president and dean for academic affairs at Fontbonne University. Earlier in her career, Dr. Blattner held several leadership posts at Southeast Missouri State University.

A native of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Dr. Blattner holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in English from Southeast Missouri State University. She earned a Ph.D. in educational psychology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
